As part of the experiential learning initiative, the Extension Wing of Social Work Department organized an observation visit for the 1st year BSW students on 17th July 2025. The visit, titled “Behind the Sirens: An Insight into Fire & Rescue Operations”, was held at the Fire & Rescue Station, Mukkam.

The objective of the visit was to provide students with firsthand exposure to emergency response systems and the structure of fire and rescue services. Students were introduced to the daily operations, rescue protocols, safety equipment, and the challenges faced by fire personnel in real-life situations.

This interactive session helped enhance the students' understanding of disaster management, public safety systems, and the crucial role of fire and rescue services in society. The visit also highlighted the significance of coordinated community support and professional preparedness in times of emergency.

The program was a valuable component of their social work education, bridging classroom knowledge with field-based learning.
