The Department of Social Work and Sociology jointly hosted a series of events for incoming first-year BSW and BA Sociology students from July 9th to 12th, 2024.
The program commenced with an ice-breaking session on July 9th, featuring engaging games and group activities designed to foster a welcoming environment and facilitate interactions among new students.
On July 10th, the Social Work Department and Department of Sociology collaborated to organize a bridge course, which included a lecture by Mr. Albin Tommy, District Coordinator of the Dream Project, on "The Role of Social Workers and Sociologists in Promoting Social Justice." This session aimed to enlighten students on the significance of their future professions in advancing social justice and equip them with necessary knowledge and skills.
On July 11th, Ms. Hasnath, Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology at Noble College, conducted a thought-provoking session titled "Rebooting Social Engineering under the AI Effect." This engaging lecture explored the intersection of artificial intelligence and social engineering, offering valuable insights to students.
The bridge course culminated on the fourth day with a comprehensive class on social work, delivered by Ms. Abhirami, Head of the Department of Social Work, specifically for BSW students.
